The Friendly Cultures Fair is one of the most important international events in Mexico City, in which Mexico City residents have the opportunity to get to know traditions and cultures from other countries.

The project began in 2009, to show the solidarity from different accredited Embassies in our country due to the health alert caused by the AH1N1 flu outbreak. This project has helped the Mexico City Government via the International Affairs Office to maintain and enhance the city’s tourism and culture.

Due to the project’s success since it first took place, the Friendly Cultures Fair has become an annual tradition. It is a space in which Mexico City and different countries from every continent have the chance to show – through presentations and stands – their main artistic expressions and their cultural diversity. The Fair has grown considerably both in the number of countries that participate and in the amount of activities and visitors.

After the first five editions were carried out along the Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, in 2014 the Friendly Cultures Fair was held, for the first time ever, in the Zócalo of the Historic City Center. Its seventh edition, which took place from May 14 to 27 of 2015, was held once again in the heart of Mexico City with the participation of 94 diplomatic representations (93 countries and the European Union), over 200 cultural activities, the assistance of 3 million people, and consolidated the Fair as the multicultural festival of Mexico City, an open and inclusive city to the world.
